30 years ago in 1982 sori yanagi designed this beautiful tea pot made in semi-glassed ceramic. Stronger than pottery but yet light as porcelain.

Last month Tomas Maier, creative director at Bottega Veneta was asked to describe his personal 'necessary luxury' in the American Express magasin: Departures. Among the very few items the Black Cutlery designed by Sori Yanagi (1982) was selected. We bow in respect.

Sori Yanagi’s stainless steel tong with holes has been selected for the new Virgin Atlantic first class concept called “Upper Class”. The Sori Yanagi tong is made in Japan, and is an everyday beauty, that now will fly around the world.

In Norway to launch the new Gateway Japan LED task lamp, bubblair, designed by Ross Lovegrove and manufactured in Japan. Ross Lovegrove joined the trip for a special introduction to the task lamp design and his design philosophy in general. Locations: Snøhetta Architects and the Olso National Academy of Art.

The Gateway Japan exhibition might not be held in the trendy East London but it doesn’t mean that we’re not there. See you in the West-end (Holland Park).

Situated in Holland Park the exhibition is located in the west-end of London in one of the amazing bulthaup showrooms. The area is just next door to the bohemian Notting Hill, the prestigious residential area of Holland Park housing Madonna, Richard Branson, etc. and we even found a small Japanese garden in the park!! Many in our generation will never forget March 11, 2011, when the 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck Japan with horrific consequences. Japan need the support from around the World to the many families still suffering from the terrible earthquake. As one of the initiatives Gateway Japan decided to support the Japanese star architect, Shigeru Ban, and his project: Evacuation Centres Partitions Project.
